Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • A doula is a trained birth professional who provides emotional and physical support during the perinatal period. This can include providing childbirth education, assisting you in building out your birth and postpartum plan, providing physical support during labor, and assisting with chest/breastfeeding in the postpartum period. A doula does not deliver your baby or make medical decisions – that is the job of your midwife or OBGYN!

  • I would recommend that you start reaching out to doulas around 20 weeks of pregnancy. This ensures that there is enough (but not too much) time to choose a doula, build out your birth plan, and gain confidence in your perinatal experience!

  • While I have a special interest in supporting my neighbors in West and Southwest Philadelphia, I accept clients from all over the city! I also accept clients in Delaware county and in Southern New Jersey, depending on the type of support requested.

  • In addition to providing a sliding scale for all my offerings, I accept payment in installments. I am committed to finding a price and payment plan that works for you. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any other questions you have about affordability.

  • I would be honored to support you through your abortion or miscarriage. Please reach out to me at westphillybad@proton.me to get started.
